NFL seasons are a marathon, and after losing three straight games, the Eagles (10-5) have won two consecutive games and back-to-back division titles after a 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Saturday night. The emotional win was two-fold as the Dallas Cowboys were officially eliminated from any shot at the postseason ahead of their Sunday matchup at AT&T Stadium against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 22 of 30 passes for 185 yards, with two touchdowns and no turnovers. He connected with DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown a combined 15 times. In the first half, Hurts threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Smith, and in the third quarter, he tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dallas Goedert, which put Philadelphia ahead 14-10. This scoring drive lasted 17 plays.
Philadelphia needed any combination of a win or Dallas loss to secure the division and eliminate their hated rivals from the postseason. The win also ended a 20-year streak of the NFC East having a new champion, with the Eagles being the last team to repeat in 2004.
