On Friday, it was reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that the Chicago Bears planned to activate linebacker Tremaine Edmunds from injured reserve to the active roster. An official announcement will likely be made on Saturday ahead of their Green Bay Packers game at Soldier Field.

Edmunds injured his groin against the Minnesota Vikings on November 16 and was placed on IR a few days later. He started his 21-day practice window earlier this week, and he was limited in Tuesday’s estimated practice report, limited at Wednesday’s practice, and a full participant yesterday.

So far this season, Edmunds has 10 games played, 89 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, three QB hits, four interceptions, and nine passes defended.

The 27-year-old two-time Pro Bowler was playing good football in Dennis Allen’s scheme, so getting him back will be huge for the Bears’ playoff push.

The Bears currently have an opening on the 53-man roster, so a corresponding move is not required. The Bears also have an opening on their 16-man practice squad.
