An estate agency in London has revealed plans to expand and move into its largest branch to date despite a ‘tough’ ten years for the industry since the firm was established in February 2016.

Founder Nick Kyriacou (main image), who gained his initial experience within estate agency at Kinleigh, Folkard and Hayward, founded the firm after experiencing frustration with the poor public reputation that estate agents garner, saying he wanted to change that.

“I just knew there was a different and better way,” he adds. “So, in many ways, Mi Homes was born out of frustration, which has quickly developed into a huge pleasure. To our serve clients in a way that they deserve to be treated.”

Efforts by Kyriacou and many other agents around the UK appear to be moving the dial – the most recent Ipsos Veracity Index published late last year, revealed a shift in public perception. Estate agents were ranked 8th for untrustworthiness, up from third least trusted in 2016.

But Kyriacou says his journey from a North London single-branch founder to opening a new, bigger branch has not been plain sailing.

Challenging times

“Over the past decade, Mi Homes has operated through some of the most challenging and transformative periods the property sector has faced.

“We have seen numerous shifts in regulation, rapid digitalisation, the Covid-19 pandemic, and ongoing market volatility. Reaching ten years in what has been an incredibly tough and fast-moving industry, is something we are extremely proud of.”

His sales and lettings firm’s latest branch is to be opened on High Barnet with the previous branch having been in Southgate.

The firm, which has also completed a rebrand, offers services to vendors, landlords, investors and developers.
