Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1

Superman and Homelander finally crossed paths in an official DC Comics story, but man, do I need so much more after this first encounter. A showdown naturally discussed by fans for years, this first major battle between the duo has to be just the beginning.

A corrupt amalgam of Superman and Captain America (without the same morals), The Boys' Homelander is the epitome of the "Evil Superman" concept, both on the page and on screen. As such, a showdown with DC's genuine article has always felt inevitable, a clash that's finally happening in the all-new DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1.

Superman and Homelander Just Had Their First Official Showdown in DC K.O.

Superman Upper-Cutting Homelander

Superman and Homelander’s long-awaited face-off happens just before the events of the upcoming DC K.O. #4 in the new tie-in issue DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1. Needing more "Omega Energy" before facing heroes from the Absolute Universe, the DC tournament's Final Four (Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, and Joker) are pitted against champions from other realities beyond the DC Universe.

Aided by a few previously eliminated heroes, Boss Battle #1 sees Joker vs Annabelle, Wonder Woman vs Red Sonja, Luthor vs Samantha Strong, Star Saphhiere vs Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Batwoman vs Vampirella, Black Lightning and Plastic Man vs Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Finally, we have Superman sent to The Boys' universe to face Homelander outside Vought Tower (easily the biggest and most exciting showdown).

Initially, the duo looks to be evenly matched, having the same range of superpowers. However, Superman arguably gets the better hits, drawing blood after an impressive uppercut after exploding from underground followed by a very satisfying headbutt that looks to have broken Homelander's nose.

Without A Clear Victor, I Need To See Superman and Homelander's Inevitable Rematch

Homelander vs Superman Official DC Boss Battle #1

Surprisingly, the first official Superman vs Homelander fight ends without a clear winner. Once enough Omega Energy is collected, the champions are pulled back to fight the Absolute Universe heroes. Homelander doesn’t get to kill the Man of Steel like he wants, and Superman never fully delivers the deserved finisher fans were expecting.

Keeping that in mind, I have to believe that future crossovers are likely being discussed between The Boys and the DC Universe. The door has officially been opened thanks to DC K.O., and it would be a major waste not to see anything more beyond this first fight (which ended prematurely).

A rematch with bigger stakes feels inevitable. After all, who wouldn't want to see the Justice League one day clashing with The Seven?
