After seven seasons, The Kelly Clarkson Show is preparing its swan song.

The former American Idol winner launched her daytime talk show in 2019, and it is now in its seventh season. Releasing around 160-180 episodes per season on a Monday-Friday schedule, Clarkson has interviewed a wide variety of guests, including Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, Dolly Parton, Serena Williams, Margot Robbie, Jimmy Fallon, Sylvester Stallone, and Sterling K. Brown.

Now, Clarkson has decided to step away from her daytime show, although the rest of season 7 will continue through fall 2026. She will continue hosting the majority of the episodes, with guest hosts filling in during days she takes off. Another host will not be taking over after her exit, as the show will come to an official end.

Clarkson's decision follows the leave of absence she took in the spring of 2025 while her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was being treated for cancer, and so she could be with her children during this time. Blackstock passed away on August 7, 2025.

She has now released a statement explaining that the end of her show will allow her to continue prioritizing her children, while also expressing her immense gratitude to everyone involved with the series. Read her statement below:

I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York. There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner. Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time … you never know where I might show up next. But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.

Clarkson's time as a coach on The Voice is what led to her talk show becoming a reality through NBCUniversal in the first place. Since its debut, The Kelly Clarkson Show has had high ratings and has won 24 Daytime Emmy Awards, from four for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series to another four for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Between the strong ratings, numerous awards wins, and a longtime relationship with NBC, executives have only positive things to say about her, including from Tracie Wilson, EVP, Syndication Studios, and Valari Staab, Chairman of NBCUniversal Local.

Tracie Wilson: The Kelly Clarkson Show has been an extraordinary collaboration. I’m grateful to Kelly for bringing her talent and energy to this. Her warmth, quick sense of humor and connection with people created a show that made fans feel seen, heard and a little bit better about their day. We couldn’t have achieved the show’s success without our exceptional showrunner/EP Alex Duda, whose vision, leadership and unwavering commitment across all seven seasons have guided us through unprecedented times and a cross-country move. Together with producers, staff and crew, they created a legacy to be proud of.

Valari Staab: The Kelly Clarkson Show has been a valued part of our NBC-owned stations’ lineup for seven seasons, always delivering an entertaining and engaging show for our daytime audiences. We thank Kelly and the production team for the wonderful, high-quality show they’ve produced consistently since 2019, and look forward to the remainder of this season as they complete their successful run.

The end of The Kelly Clarkson Show comes amid a difficult and uncertain time for daytime television. There are increasingly fewer traditional talk shows that feature a band. Clarkson's was one of the most successful that still followed this model, and it is not going to get a replacement. Similar challenges also extend to late-night talk shows, with many being canceled and not replaced on their respective networks.

While The Kelly Clarkson Show is ending, she does make it clear that she is not going to completely disappear from the entertainment industry. She has already teased more music, live performances, and appearances on The Voice, and there are plenty of other spaces where she could also be featured.
