The Nittany Lions don’t have a commit in the 2027 class (yet) but they are now on the board with the 2028 class, landing Erie defensive back Deonte Flemings Jr. after a Junior Day event earlier Saturday. Flemings Jr. has had a relationship with WPIAL stalwart Terry Smith for some time now, and landed his Penn State offer just a week ago. He apparently didn’t need much more time to think on it, making the call for the home state Nittany Lions to become a leader for the 2028 class.

He plays corner in high school, and looks damn good to be fair, but at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds as a high school sophomore, who knows where his body progression goes from here. Perhaps he sticks at corner, grows into a safety, or maybe even a linebacker? Regardless, Flemings Jr. follows the line of thinking we’ve seen so far when it comes to what Matt Campbell wants: big, tall, rangy athletes.
